julie erst JULIE ERST - music, poems, voice

Inside the voice, she listens to emotions and languages,
to reflective inflexions,
to curves and colors, to silences,
to flows, breaks, harmonies,
rhythms, hangings,
blows and flights.

Inside words and senses,
she looks at the impact, the layers,
at the images, shades and touches,
the unsaid and the beyond.

She writes, sings, explores, improvises,
imagines and composes for the voice.
And essentially, she loves to open eyes and ears...

Studies of ethnology and a few eastern languages,
vocal improvisation with Dominique Montain, Henri Ogier, Tamia,
musical classes at Conservatoire Rachmaninov in Paris,
lyrical formation with d'Elena Vassilieva,
Elène Golgevit, Gian-Franco Brizio.

She interprets pieces from the baroque repertoire,
as well as classic, romantic et contemporary musics
as an artist of the Montpellier National Opera Choir.

"His art? If the beauty of his vocal colors stands out from the first moment, magnificent like a dark red velvet, his power of expression strikes surprisingly.
This voice raises only to serve musical expression, to tell with mellowness or energy, with tenderness to bitter strength.
His dreams? To go further in his search
for a most authentic expression...
To dive in poetic resources...
To invite us to regenerate our sensibilty at the touch with timeless beauty."
(transl. from a text of Agnès Terrier)

A painter before becoming a singer,
he studied at the École d'Art Lyrique de l'Opéra de Paris,
and with the finest lyrical artists of the 20th century,
such as Udo Reinemann, Hans Hotter, Christa Ludwig,
Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Walter Berry.

His career is heading for the great roles
from the romantic opera
to contemporary creations.

In his rich discography,
he often interprets rare repertoires,
and also devotes himself happily to lieder and melodies.
